Who Am I?

I am Carina. At heart, I'm an eternal student of life, constantly curious about what it means to be human. Every chapter of my story has been driven by a desire to understand more about our bodies, minds, creativity, and our inherent connection to the natural world.

My journey with yoga began 25 years ago, when I snuck into my first class underage... and promptly fell asleep for the entire session. Despite (or perhaps because of) this unconventional start, I was hooked. What began as a way to support my teenage life as a competitive swimmer and long-distance runner evolved into a pathway to overall wellbeing that would shape the direction of my life.

A Journey Through Movement & Story

My path has been anything but linear. From studying Sports Science and working as a personal trainer to training as an actor at the Italia Conti Academy in London and segueing into Film and TV production, each chapter has added a unique layer to my understanding of human movement, creativity and expression. It was during my acting training that I began deeper explorations of Yoga and seeing yoga through the lens of storytelling, revealing how our physical practice and tuning into the state of our nervous systems can help us unravel and understand our own narratives.

Deep Roots in Practice & Learning

My foundation in yoga and meditation has been built through years of dedicated study and practice. From immersing myself in Yoga Asana (postures) and studying Raja Yoga Meditation for two years to learning Vedic Meditation with Emily Fletcher (Ziva meditation) in LA, each experience has deepened my understanding of these ancient practices. Working at The Life Centre/Yogacampus in London for ten years allowed me to learn from world-class teachers, and gain my certification as a Yoga Alliance Vinyasa teacher in 2014.

Where Curiosity Meets Creativity

My journey has always been guided by questions rather than answers. Today, my teaching weaves together neuroscience, the wisdom of nature, and embodied practice – not as fixed knowledge, but as ongoing exploration. I'm endlessly fascinated by how our brains and bodies interact, how creativity flows through us, and how these understandings enhance our connection with the natural world. Each new discovery in neuroscience or insight from nature becomes a thread in this ever-evolving tapestry of learning.

Just as ecosystems thrive through interconnection and constant adaptation, I believe our own growth flourishes when we maintain a sense of wonder and openness to new understanding. This curiosity has led me down many paths – from studying the latest brain research to exploring ancient wisdom traditions, from investigating creative expression through movement to understanding the subtle language of trees.

Living Wild

Home is in Fife, Scotland, where I split my time between teaching, creating, and running Smelly Trees – my artisan natural fragrance company dedicated to celebrating the magical properties of forest aromatics. When I'm not teaching or creating, you'll find me in wild spaces: up a tree, swimming in the sea /nearby lochs, hiking mountains, watching movies, reading books or exploring in the woods – either in solitude or with my husband, dog, and like minded community.

My Approach

I believe that yoga and meditation aren't about becoming 'better' at the practices themselves – they're tools for becoming more effective, resilient, and creative human beings. Combined with time in nature (especially cold water immersion), these practices form a non-negotiable commitment to rewilding my body nervous system and deepening my experience of living.

A Creative Evolution

My work continues to evolve as I follow my curiosity into new territories of understanding.  I am fascinated in the intersection between self exploration, awe, wonder and and creativity.  Each new discovery enriches my teaching and deepens my appreciation for the incredible complexity and creativity of being human.

Bigger Picture

The heart of my work lies in the belief that personal rewilding ripples outward. As we cultivate contentment, maintain healthy energy flow, and nurture our innate curiosity and creativity, we become better equipped to care for our planet, nurture our relationships, and strengthen our communities. Through Your Wild Nature, I invite you to join this journey of endless discovery – exploring the wild, creative potential within yourself while connecting more deeply with others and the natural world.
